I’m Shelley Smith, a multimedia artist living in New Hampton with my husband Jeff, our Scottish Terrier Molly, our daughter Aubrey and her husband Jim Engle. I’m a self-taught artist who loves experimenting with all kinds of mediums —acrylic paint, clay, colored pencils, glass, wood —you name it.  I learned new and interesting techniques from a very sweet friend of mine that owned a painting/craft store in Conroe, TX, back in the early 90’s.  She has since passed and is forever missed. Giving old and new things another life , is a big part of what keeps art exciting for me. I feel extremely lucky to be part of the Artistic Roots community and to share space with such an amazing group of artists. It’s a joy to be here, and I’m excited to keep creating and learning for as long as they’ll have me.
