Fused Glass
I don’t recall a time in my life when I wasn’t creating. Growing up, we were always crafting something new/ different, often for school or church bazaars. I first discovered GLASS as an amazing medium at the Currier Art School in Manchester, NH. The first of many classes that I took was run by Judith Copeland, League of NH juried glass artist. Many classes, workshops, and tutorials later … here I am!
All of my glass is created/fused in my home studio, in Sanbornton, NH where I live amidst inspiring views of mountains, fields and Lake Winnisquam! I am but a guide, aiding in the transformation of bits of glass into the beauty that I see, from the white birches and purple lupines of spring mountains, to the intense blaze of fall color or the clear, glowing night sky.
With glass as my partner, I play with depth and texture within layers of glass, and use a variety of ever-growing techniques to reflect the variety of nature in my designs. Each piece of glass is hand cut and/or ground to shape & layered into one of my kilns and fired to @1200-1500 degrees at least once & often many more times in order to achieve the desired results. Each firing takes a day or more to ensure proper annealing.

Frit painting (powdered glass) featuring pine trees on the edge of a lake whose reflections shimmer in the water. The lake and background are created in powder with lake highlights and lowlights on a bottom piece of white glass. The pines are created using powdered glass and dental tools on the top clear layer of glass along with the additional texture of small rocks and plants and some enamel details. The panel is displayed on a finished piece of birch log

2” x 3” glass panels on small acrylic stands. Brilliant fall colors and a blue sky are created using powdered glass on a white glass panel. Birches appear as the powder is wiped off to reveal the white, and further dark powder details and shadow lines are created on the rear layer. The top layer is highlighted with black enamel sgraffito work and yellow “leaf-lace” for added detail and texture.
