Pastels, Digital Art, Mosaics, Cards

My art reflects my love of being a farmer. Growing up on a dairy farm and working beside my dad has instilled in me a love for our beautiful countryside. From the beauty of old stone walls to fishing in our pond, I am itching to capture nature’s beauty in my art.

I recently read about an artist painting in “quiet places” which totally resonates with me. The quiet places such as my paintings of my winter walks through my woods. I love capturing the cast shadows on the snow in my paintings.

I have been enjoying the beauty and challenges of soft pastels. The immediacy and vibrancy of pastels are wonderful for me to paint in my quiet places. The process of creating textured surfaces to paint on is much more fun than framing!

Lately, I have been using digital painting as an undercoat for my pastels. A fun process! I enjoy being able to sketch on my iPad and then to combine with traditional paint methods is extraordinary!
